speak the language

Our language has great power to influence and inspire the lives of others.

Ken Blanchard said that feedback is the breakfast of champions. When we receive clear and specific feedback acknowledging our virtues, it raises our awareness, our self esteem and allows us to know and repeat what is working well. It develops habits of success.

When we call someone to a virtue it sends a strong message of our expectations and values. Rather than shame or blame, we act with tact. By speaking respectfully and allowing others to exercise personal responsibility, we safeguard our integrity and honor.

When we use words like courage, thoughtfulness, and flexibility, we empower those behaviours, whether in a child, employee or friend.
